FASRI student honors composer with beautiful music

October 20, 2011

Earlier this month, FASRI student Niklas Kniesche (seen here with his piano teacher and a fellow student pianist) took part in the New England Conservatory's memorial for the recently-deceased contemporary composer Milton Babbitt. The FASRI sixth-grader honored the composer by playing one of Babbitt's difficult pieces, to glowing reviews from the Boston Musical Intelligencer:

"Perhaps the most interesting contributions were from the NEC Preparatory School students. Pianist. . .Niklas Kniesche showed technical ability and musicianship far beyond [his] years."

You can read the full review of the memorial here.

Bravo, Niklas!
