Legion d’Honneur award to FASRI Head of School

January 1, 2011

The award of the rank of Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur has been made to Mrs. Velociter (formally Thompson) in recognition of her outstanding services to French education and culture through the creation of a high quality dual language school in the city of Providence, Rhode Island.

"I am surprised, delighted, touched, and honored by this award. It means so much to me that my efforts to make FASRI a school of exceptional quality have been recognized in this way," said Dominique Velociter (formally Thompson).

"From its modest beginnings, I have devoted a major part of my life to the school and I am proud of the achievement. Thank you to all who worked with me along the way and helped make this possible."

French nationals from civil or military life may receive the Légion d'Honneur for "eminent merit".

An official ceremony will be coordinated with Mr. Christophe Guilhou, Consul Général de France à Boston in 2011 at a date to be announced.
