School Forum

The French-American School of Rhode Island is made up of several different constituencies. In order to bring together teachers, parents/guardians, management and the Board, FASRI has created the School Forum.

Inspired by the French conseil d’école—or school council—the School Forum is a place where parents can meet face-to-face with members of the school administration and faculty to have their concerns regarding the general operation of the school heard.

The School Forum is:
  • A focus group that allows FASRI’s constituencies to talk together about the school and its general operation.
  • An arena for parents to voice their opinions and concerns with respect and openness.
  • An advisory group that discusses issues concerning the school community at large.
  • Attended by the elected and invited members only. School Forum minutes are shared with the parent community.

The School Forum meets three times per year. It is made up of ex-officio members (Head of School, administration, Board representative and PA Chair), and elected members representing faculty and parents from different divisions. Questions for discussion at the Forum are presented in advance for the meeting agenda. A summary of the meeting is published in the school newsletter.

The election process has begun for 2011/12

Important dates:

  • Declare candidacy by September 29
  • Campaign from September 30 - October 6
