History

A Providence institution, the French-American School of Rhode Island, founded by Head of School Dominique Thompson, has been in existence for nearly 14 years. It first opened its doors in September of 1994 in the Holy Name Building on the East Side with half a dozen students aged between 3 and 6.

Within two years, the school was accredited by the French Government for the quality of its program and it has been growing ever since.

FASRI purchased its present facility from its neighbor St Joseph's Church in November of 2005. Today, with an enrollment of over 160 students from pre-school to 7th grade, FASRI is still growing and will expand into 8th grade by September of 2008. FASRI offers the opportunity of a unique bilingual education and of a multi-cultural community. The outstanding quality of its bilingual program is recognized by all visiting experts in education. The remarkable expansion of the school and its community spirit reflect the faith, dedication, consistency and vision of its leadership.
